FIBA Europe Introduces Attractive Club Competition Model

21 June 2007

FIBA Europe introduced a new competition model that aims to create the most attractive conditions possible for clubs participating in the EuroCup (men).

FIBA Europe has implemented a system in which favourable conditions are in place for all clubs registering in the EuroCup. The number of participating clubs will be open.

Once teams have reached the round of 16 in the EuroCup, FIBA Europe will cover expenses participating teams incur for travel and referees.

FIBA Europe will continue its policy of leaving the television and marketing revenue to all participating clubs.

This new club competition model was introduced during an Executive Committee meeting held in Munich this afternoon.

“FIBA Europe’s philosophy is to offer the best possible conditions for clubs to participate in our competitions. We want to be of assistance to the clubs, not to benefit from them,” said FIBA Europe President George Vassilakopoulos.

The clubs will receive all necessary information in the next few days.
