Friday was a busy day at the FIBA Europe headquarters in Munich where the draws for the Additional Qualifying Tournament for both EuroBasket and EuroBasket Women 2011 took place.
Finland, Hungary and Portugal, who participate in the Men's tournament, were drawn in one group where they will play each other in home and away games, August 9-24, 2011.
The group action kicks-off with the game Portugal-Hungary on August 9.
The winner and the runner-up from the group will qualify for EuroBasket 2011 in Lithuania.
In the women's Additional Qualifying Tournament the 10 participating teams were drawn in two groups of five teams. Both round-robin groups will be staged by one of the participating teams, June 3-8 next year.
In Group A the top-ranked team Bulgaria were drawn with Finland, Hungary, Netherlands and Ukraine.
In Group B top-top-ranked Serbia face Belgium, Germany, Italy and Romania.
The winners of the two groups will then play each other in home and away games, on June 12 and 15, with the winner securing the last EuroBasket Women 2011 spot.
Seven of the 10 participating countries have expressed an interest to host their respective Additional Qualifying Tournament group. All of the candidates will have the opportunity to make their bid formal in the next few weeks after answering the bid questionnaire.
The two hosts will subsequently be decided by the FIBA Europe Board in December.
