Magdalena Zietara sparked a great Polish comeback, scoring 12 of her 18 points in the second half

Poland started the Second Round of the U20 European Championship Women in quite disastrous fashion against Lithuania but came back from the brink with a phenomenal turnaround to record a stunning 53-50 victory in Group E.

Barely eleven minutes of the game had elapsed and the Poles were already staring defeat squarely in the face at 26-6 in a horrendous opening when Lithuania was rampant.

Things barely improved for Poland up until the interval, still trailing 33-18 and having shot a woeful 6 of 27 from the field, things could only get better when the play resumed and so it proved.

In a truly classic game of two halves, Poland was rejuvenated on their return, no doubt with the words of head coach Iwona Jablonska still ringing in their ears.

It was an incredible transformation - for both teams in fact. Lithuania left their offence and defence in the locker room and came out to suffer the same kind of horrific 20 minutes endured by their opponent before the interval.

Poland was superb in the third period, completely locking down Lithuania defensively and finally making some shots. The result was a 22-4 quarter and it turned the game on its head.

While the last ten minutes were nervy and Lithuania still had a chance to win the game, they couldn't recover from pressing the self-destruct button and Poland emerged with the most unlikely of wins.

Ramona Cossengue impressed for the Poles, just missing out on a double-double by one rebound whilst Lithuania's day was made worse by a worrying knee injury to Kriste Druskyte who had to be taken to hospital.
