There's still no beating Turkey at the U20 European Championship Women as Aziz Akkaya and his players racked up a fifth straight success in Debrecen with a 56-43 victory against the Slovak Republic to rubber-stamp their place in Friday's Quarter-Finals.

Turkey continued their momentum against a dangerous Slovak team who was also on a roll, showing too much quality and depth for their opponent.

Neither team shot the ball particularly well during the initial ten minutes of the game, Turkey taking a 13-10 lead and then going on to post seven unanswered points to move 24-16 in front.

Whilst the Slovak Republic replied instantly with their own quick-fire seven points to narrow the gap, they found it tough responding to the intensity of Olcay Cakir in the Turkish backcourt.

She sparked what proved to be the decisive game breaking run either side of half-time as Turkey moved 35-23 ahead with eleven points in a row.

It gave the Slovak Republic a big problem and they couldn't find a solution. Continuing to work hard at both ends of the floor, their endeavour was not matched by the accuracy from the three-point line which helped them see off Ukraine in the previous game.

Consequently Turkey managed to keep them at a manageable distance until the final buzzer sounded.

Cakir finished with 12 points and five assists while Gizem Basaran fired an efficient ten points off five of six floor shooting.
