|Santa Okockyte was the hero for Lithuania, sinking the decisive layup with one second to go in the second overtime|
Lithuania grabbed ninth place at the U20 European Championship Women and signed off their tournament in spectacular style after a last gasp score by Santa Okockyte settled a double-overtime 78-76 epic against Poland.
In truth, Lithuania should have finished the job during regulation having led by 51-39 but Poland launched a super comeback with a 19-7 finish to take the game into the first extra period as Magdalena Idziorek scored the basket which levelled matters.
It was then Poland who looked to be on course for victory when they moved 68-65 ahead, only Laura Svaryte had other ideas and she forced the second extra period with a deep triple.
Then, after 50 minutes of an intense struggle, Lithuania finally prevailed thanks to the dramatic intervention of Okocykte.
Monika Grigalauskyte and Svaryte both racked up double-doubles whilst the loss and tenth place was arguably tough on Monika Jasnowska who stepped up offensively in the absence of the influential Magdalena Zietara to fire 26 points for the Poles.
Serbia took eleventh spot ahead of the Slovak Republic who had to settle for twelfth after a truly monstrous performance by Ivana Brajkovic helped the Serbians claim a 67-61 victory.
The center poured in 28 points and added nine rebounds to help her team finish their time in Debrecen on a high.
