|If France were supposed to take it easy since they'd already topped the group, Marième Badiane did not get the memo - the center fought hard for every ball, collecting 15 rebounds|
Unbeaten France march on after completing their first round fixtures in Group A with a 65-50 victory against hard-working Poland at the U18 European Championship Women.
Already resigned to having to battle to stave off relegation to Division B, and still without Dominika Owczarzak, Poland showed real spirit and pushed the French hard before running out of steam during the last quarter.
Despite the loss, this performance should be a confidence boost for Poland who endured a rotten first ten minutes of action.
Dominated 23-8, they could have folded but instead, showed great resilience as they worked themselves back into contention.
A score by Minika Skrzecz made it a one-shot game at 39-36 during the third quarter before the extra rotation and inside presence of France took over.
Much of that was due to Marieme Badiane who pulled down 15 rebounds for the French team as they topped Group A.
