Italy celebrated a wonderfully absorbing and entertaining 60-58 win against Serbia in Group D of the U18 European Championship Women as a fired-up Giulia Bona led her team to victory.
The result means that Italy have secured the top spot in Group D regardless of the results on the third and final day of First Round action.
Bona poured in 20 points and showed her versatility with three pivotal triples in a game where the Italian forward's fist-clenching celebrations and determination on defence epitomised her team's buoyant display.
Something had to give since both teams had enjoyed first day victories and in the end, Italy came out on top although it was far from straightforward and included a dramatic conclusion.
In a game that was as intense and enjoyable as anything witnessed in Bucharest so far, Serbia could have forced overtime in the last second but Aleksandra Stancev wasn't able to sink her free-throws.
Serbia had started the game really cold, falling 20-8 behind after a poor first ten minutes of action but when they worked their way back into the contest it developed into a gripping encounter.
Both teams looked capable of winning and preserving their unbeaten record but with Bona on board, Italy had the necessary edge on the night to sneak home with the win.
