A nightmare second half almost cost Greece eleventh spot at the U18 European Championship Women but they survived a fight-back by Slovenia to finish their campaign with a 58-55 success.

Greece were unstoppable during the first half as they doubled the tally of the Slovenians by the interval, 38-19.

However, even with this advantage, the Greeks almost blew it as Slovenia showed the same kind of spirit which has epitomised a couple of their victorious comebacks during their time in Bucharest.

They pushed hard, especially during the final quarter, and by the end of the game Greece were hanging on but 18 points by their top scorer Anna Stamolamprou got them over the line.

Barbara Sut was the stand-out performer for Slovenia with an efficient 13 points and six rebounds.
