Spain Is A Runaway Train Once Again

U18 WOMEN

9. Irene Gari (Spain)
In a game where every Spanish player but one scored, Irene Gari led the winners' offense with 14 points

Relentless Spain continued their red-hot form with a 76-36 destruction of Greece to finish second in Group E at the U18 European Championship Women in Bucharest.

Greece knew it was going to be difficult against a team who has already shown their medal credentials but they could barely have envisaged the Spanish scoring all of the first nineteen points of the game.

After this disastrous start, all Greece could do was to battle as hard as possible and seek to limit the damage best they could.

Although this was, of course, easier said than done against Spain who, at times, have seemed as if they only have one gear - namely top gear.

Even when engaged in cruise control and barely using the likes of Leticia Romero or Maria Arrojo, the Spanish looked so utterly comfortable and never less than dominant.

Greece did put up a good fight during the second quarter which they only lost by one point, but having trailed 28-7 after their miserable opening, it barely made any dent on the game as Spain turned it on again during the second half.
