The powerful French frontcourt cleaned up on the glass against Turkey to help secure a 63-54 win on Wednesday and take top spot in Second Round Group E at the U18 European Championship Women.
Les Bleues were rampant on the boards, pulling down over twenty more rebounds than their opponents and it made a huge difference as they bounced straight back from their loss against Russia on Tuesday.
A trio of double-double performances from Aby Gaye, Marieme Badiane and Valeriane Ayayi told the story as the French gradually wore down Turkey as the game unravelled.
It was the Turkish team who had initially started brightly, limiting France to just nine first-quarter points to move seven points ahead, but, for the most part, once France got back on level terms, neither was able to make a game-winning run - until the final quarter.
At 48-48, France scored ten of the next twelve points and killed off any hopes of a late flourish from Turkey by sinking their foul shots.
Turkey now faces an anxious wait to find out their final group position. although they had already secure a quarter-final place on the first day of the Second Round.
