|The Netherlands had already secured first place in Group C but worked hard to maintain their perfect record after three games|
The Netherlands wrapped up their First Round campaign at the U18 European Championship Women with a 61-51 victory over the Czech Republic to maintain their unbeaten record and finish top of the heap in Group C.
This third win in as many days was not quite as comfortable as some might have predicted for the Dutch, who was up against a Czech side yet to taste victory.
Certainly the Czech Republic will have to find a way to win in the Relegation Round during the coming days if they want to preserve their Division A status and in patches, they pushed Netherlands hard - despite a discouraging start which witnessed them fall 20-11 behind.
An uplift in their defensive intensity worked wonders during the second period when they managed to restrict their opponent to just seven points and that good work continued into the second half.
Indeed a Sarka Jozova triple briefly put the Czechs in front at 32-31, but it also served to stir life into the Netherlands and a strong 14-6 finish to the third quarter proved decisive.
Karolina Severova did a good job for the Czech Republic with 16 points but Lisanne De Jonge, Isabella Slim and Kourtney Treffers were all on form for the Netherlands who had too much strength in the paint.
