Croatia Beat Italy To Seventh

Center Ana-Marija Begic made sure Croatia would finish on a high note with a double-double in points and rebounds

A fine double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds from Ana-Marija Begic in addition to a blistering first quarter display, propelled Croatia to a 72-49 success against Italy and a seventh-place finish at the U18 European Championship Women.

Having been trashed 92-43 by Turkey in their previous game, the Croatians made amends for that performance by taking out their frustration on the Italians right from the moment they stepped onto the court.

Croatia raced into a 25-9 first quarter lead and when they continued their dominance in the second half with a 19-9 third period, there was no way back for Italy.

Ilaria Milazzo did her best to inspire the losing team at both ends of the floor with 11 points and a terrific five steals, but it wasn't enough and the Italian players had to settle for eighth position.
