Lisec Injects Life Into Slovenian Hopes

12. Eva Lisec (Slovenia)
Eva Lisec completed the evening with a 16-point, 14-rebound double-double for Slovenia

A double-double by Eva Lisec breathed life into the U18 European Championship Women quarter-final hopes of Slovenia as the frontcourt star propelled her team to a 67-56 win against Greece in Group F.

She recorded 16 points and 14 boards as Slovenia gained the momentum at just the right time to take the victory after a second-half surge and some accurate three-point shooting.

For 25 minutes of the game, both teams exchanged the lead at regular intervals with neither able to make any kind of a decisive break.

Slovenia packed more of a punch in the paint, but Greece dealt with that issue and managed to hang tough until midway through the third quarter.

With it a one-shot game at 41-38 to Slovenia, they put their foot on the gas and inked a compelling 19-3 run which stretched into the last period.

It allowed Slovenia to take the game completely away from Greece as they raced clear and cruised 64-44 ahead.

Greece wagged their tail in the closing minutes, but it did not paper over the cracks, with only Eleanna Christinaki and Anna Stamolamprou reaching double-digits.
