Turkey commenced the Second Round of the U20 European Championship with an imperious 95-68 victory over Italy, courtesy of a thunderous first quarter.
Italy did not manage to score a single point during the first seven minutes of the game, while the Turkish team collected 18 points in that spell to take a surmountable lead and cruise to an easy victory the rest of the way.
Safak Edge led Turkey in scoring with 18 points, Ramazan Tekin dominated in the paint with 16 points and seven rebounds, while Ahmet Tuncer chipped in with 12 points.
Italy guard Marco Lagana had a game-high 20 points, but the Italians couldn't cope with Turkey's dominance in the post.
The Turks team outscored Italy 50-28 in the paint.
The victory allowed Turkey to move to 2-1, while the Italians dropped to 1-2.
Turkey will meet hosts Slovenia on Tuesday, while Italy will play against Spain, who also began the Second Round with a defeat.
