Latvia did whatever was in their hands to reach the U20 European Championship Quarter-Finals with a 94-78 victory against Italy, but their fate depends on the results of the two remaining games in Group F.
Italy meanwhile are now out of contention for a spot in the last eight of the tournament.
The Latvians took command in the second quarter after a shower of three-pointers by Arturs Bricis, Marcis Vitols and Janis Timma, to jump to a 45-26 lead
The Italians tried in vain to reduce the deficit in the second half.
Janis Timma led Latvia with 25 points and seven rebounds, Ojars Silins had 22 points and eight boards, while Arturs Bricis finished the game with 18 points, as the Baltic side made 11-of-24 shots from beyond the arc.
Italy's 17-year-old center, Amadeo Tessitori, collected 14 points and was the key man for the losing side.
