Germany secured a place in the Second Round of the U20 European Championship with a 71-55 victory against Montenegro on Saturday.
Montenegro seemed to be on track for their first victory with a 25-15 lead in the beginning of the second quarter, but Germany went on a 10-0 run and turned the game around.
The Germans made some adjustments defensively in the second half and interrupted Montenegro's offensive flow, allowing them to score only six points in the third quarter.
Mathis Monninghoff had 15 points for Germany, Johannes Richter scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Johannes Voigtman finished the game with seven points and 11 rebounds.
Montenegro's Danilo Nikolic led all scorers with 18 points and Vukota Pavic was close behind with 15, but the Montenegrins shot only 35.8 percent from the field and fell behind in the second half.
Germany, who improved to 2-1 with this victory, will carry over one win to the Second Round, while Montenegro lost all three games and will have to play in the Classification Round for 13th-16th place.
