Lithuania flashed their title credentials ahead of the U20 European Championship by beating hosts Spain on the last day of a four-nation warm-up tournament in Murcia.

Dovydas Redikas is supposed to be one of the leading players at this summer's big event in Slovenia and nothing that happened in the win over Spain on Sunday will have lowered that expectation.

The small forward erupted for 23 points against the Spaniards in a 69-63 victory.

Another small forward, Arnas Butkevicius, contributed 11 points as the Kazys Maksvytis-coached Lithuanians prevailed.

The hosts of the U20 European Championship, Slovenia, had a dream start to the event in a high-scoring opening game with Lithuania.

Zmagoslav Sagadin's team won against the Baltic side, 93-89, with Klemen Prepelic pouring in 24 points.

Alen Omic and Gezim Morina each weighed in with 16 points.

"I think we raised the level of our game and played well against Lithuania," Morina said.

"So we move forward and plan to succeed in the European Championship."

Slovenia then suffered a 79-59 setback against Spain on the second day, but bounced back to finish the Murcia tournament with another win, a 71-64 victory over Ukraine.

Omic was unstoppable, scoring 24 points and hauling in 12 rebounds.

Ukraine, who had however surprised hosts Spain 67-52 in their opening game of the tournament, also fell to Lithuania on day two, 82-71.
