In last year’s inaugural All-Star Game held in Pecs, Hungary, CSKA Volgaburmash’s Maria Stepanova scored 18 points, including two which came courtesy of a breakaway slam dunk, as Europe beat the World team 86-67.
The last edition also marked the launch of the Year of Women’s Basketball, an 18-month campaign to promote women’s basketball.
The date for the upcoming EuroLeague Women All-Star Game (March 8th) is also the International Day of Women.
The All-Star Game will also feature a three-point shoot-out and other promotional activities.
“The level of the EuroLeague Women is increasing every year and fans certainly deserve the right to see these stars come together in an All-Star Game,” said FIBA Europe President George Vassilakopoulos.
“Last year’s event was a success and thus warrants having another All-Star Game. We are totally confident in the organising abilities of Ros Casares and we are once again looking forward to watching so many of our stars play at one time and place.”
