General Assembly To Meet In Munich

Over 150 delegates from Europe’s 50 National Basketball Federations are expected in Munich this weekend for the FIBA Europe General Assembly.

The conference will tip off on Friday 12th May with a meeting of the Board of FIBA Europe, its final gathering in the 2002-2006 term of office.

On Saturday, elections will be held to nominate the President, Treasurer and Board for the 2006-2010 term of office.

The presidential election will be contested by current incumbent Mr. George Vassilakopoulos and Mr. Sarunas Marciulionis. Click here to see a full list of candidates for the 23 positions on the Board.

As well as the Board’s final meeting, Friday will also see a round table discussion with the Secretary Generals of the National Federations. The principle topics for discussion will be the development of 3-on-3 basketball, refereeing, coaching and the Year of Women’s Basketball, FIBA Europe’s 18-month promotional campaign to raise awareness of the women’s game.

The General Assembly starts on Saturday and the elections for the President and Board will begin at 17:00.

The Assembly will reconvene on Sunday and all delegates will leave on Monday.
