21 August 2006

FIBA Europe decided over the weekend to move Israel’s home EuroBasket Men and Women qualifying games out of the country as a result of the conflict in and around Israel.

FIBA Europe worked together with the Israeli Basketball Federation on the choice of an alternative venue outside of the country.

It was decided that Israel’s three men and three women's home games will now be played in Sofia, Bulgaria.

FIBA Europe will continue to monitor the safety and security situation in Israel.
