FIBA EUROPE AWARDS
|Nika Baric receives the 2010 Young Women's Player of the Year award from FIBA Europe Secretary General Nar Zanolin. Baric is only 19 and therefore still eligible in 2011 - We'll know if she managed to defend her title on Monday|
FIBA Europe will announce the names of the 2011 Player of the Year award winners across all four categories on 6 and 13 February.
The Women's Player of the Year and the Young Women's Player of the Year will become known this coming Monday.
Then, a week later, FIBA Europe will announce the winners in both the Men's Player of the Year and Young Men's Player of the Year categories.
Public voting concluded on 31 January while the top coaches and journalists that make up the expert panel still have until Friday 3 February to cast their vote.
The only certainty for now is that the 2011 FIBA Europe Player of the Year awards race has been hotly contested, as this year show strong performances from a number of top players at both the EuroBasket Women in Poland and the EuroBasket in Lithuania, as well as in the Youth European Championships and across all club competitions.
Another element that adds extra interest to this year's awards is the fact that of the four winners in 2010 only Nika Baric, in the Young Women's category, is able to repeat her win.
Milos Teodosic, Hana Horakova and Jan Vesely were not among the candidates for this year's awards and consequently we will have a new winner in all of the other three categories.
