Italy finished in first place of Qualifying Round Group F after beating France, 55-42, despite a bad start for Cecilia Zandalasini's team.
The powerful forward scored seven of her 15 points during the third quarter to spark Italy's comeback in a match where France dominated during the entire first half.
Marie Milape finally showed all her qualities in this tournament and started big during the first minutes, being a major threat to the Italians, both defensively and offensively.
With 12 points and eight boards, she highlighted the French side.
Just after Isabel Romano made a jump shot for the first Italian lead, Lisa Berkani answered with a three-pointer to bring back the French on top of the game.
But Italy was already showing signs of fresher physical condition and Les Bleus were unable to stop them from grabbing the lead.
The Italians confirmed their performance with a 19-7 run in the last quarter, to establish their biggest lead, a 13-point margin.
Marzia Tagliamento, with 14 points and six rebounds, was Italy's best performer next to Zandalasini.
