Hungary downed Turkey 87-68 in a frenetic match on Day Two of the U16 European Championship Women.
The Turkish team desperately looked for a win, but in a packed University Sports Hall, the Hungarian side kept their dreams very high, proving they want to repeat a glorious podium presence, as Hungary did back in 1976.
Agnes Dobos showed her expertise in scoring early, starting the game with six consecutive points, but the Turkish never made the Hungarians' life easy, at least during the first half.
The 10 points advantage at half time was diminished soon in the third quarter, but the crowded gym and the Hungarian dominance in the paint started to hurt the Turkish aspirations.
Dobos scored 21 points and grabbed 9 rebounds, while Deborah Dubei scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
For the Turkish side, point guard Serife Onar continues to spread her talent, summing up 23 points and nine assists.
The last game between Turkey and Sweden will decide who gets a place in the Qualifying Round, while the Hungarian team will have an exciting derby against Belgium for top spot in Group A.
