Turkey got their first win at the U16 European Championship Women defeating Germany, 59-56, in the first game of Classification Round Group G.

It was Germany who took the lead during the first half, starting with a 9-1 run and keeping Turkey away from the basket.

A very low score in third quarter kept things even and it was only in the last period that Turkey got their biggest lead, by nine points.

Germany still had the strength come back and tied the game in the last minute, but with Stach and Brossman missing their last shots, Turkey secured a vital win in the Classification Round for 13th to 16th place.

Selale Kepenc led Turkey with a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds, while Serife Onar, with 10 points and four assists, confirmed her importance to the Turkish side.

Emma Stach shined for Germany, leading the team with 20 points and seven rebounds.

Serbia left no doubt about the winner in the second classification game of the day, beating England 71-39 in the University Sports Hall.

Serbia took control of the game early on, building a 40 point lead during the first three quarters.

Aleksandra Crvendakic's double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds, along with Snezana Bogicevic's 13 points made the difference.

England had their best scorer in Shanice Norton, who finished the match with 14 points and nine rebounds.

Serbia face Germany on Tuesday, while in the other match-up of Group G Turkey take on England.
