Czechs Prove Too Strong For England

The Czech Republic spoiled the English dream of winning their first match with at the U16 European Championship Women with a 65-48 victory of their own.

The fighting English kept the game balanced until the last quarter, when they run out of stamina to complete a precious performance in the Generali Arena.

Gabriela Andelova was the main reason why the Czechs won, making seven of her 14 attempts from the three-point line and finishing the game with 28 points.

Leah McDerment maintained the English hopes alive during the match, finishing with 17 points and three rebounds.

But with the Czechs dominating the boards, with 47 rebounds to 32, the final quarter proved the Czech Republic's will to advance to the the Preliminary Round.

As for the English team, they will have a hard match-up against France on Saturday, but must put all their efforts in keeping their place in Division A.

The Czech Republic will try to get the second place in Group C, facing Croatia in their final match.
