Greece celebrated a great fifth place at last year's U16 European Championship Women and hope to match the result this summer.

Russia, Greece, Serbia and the Slovak Republic will battle it out in Group B of the U16 European Championship Women.

After a disappointing sixth place in 2011, Russia strongly have invested in this year's U16 European Championship Women. The Russian team won the international youth tournament in Fougères, defeating hosts France 60-49 in the final. Center Ksenia Kuzmina, point guard Ksenia Levchenko and small forward Daria Kolosovskaya are three players to keep an eye on in Mikolsc.

Greece defeated Russia last year to claim fifth place. They will try to match the result this year, a difficult goal to achieve, even though the team returns with forward Dimitra Tsavou, who had a strong showing at the 2011 edition of the event, averaging 11.6 points and 7.9 rebounds.

Serbia, who only finished 14th at last year's U16 European Championship Women, are willing to return to the top places again this summer. The Serbian side will have forward Aleksandra Crvendakic, shooting guard Julijana Vojinovic and point guard Tijana Cukic as their main players to follow.

As for the Slovak Republic, playing close to home, the team can count on extra support from their fans. On the court, it is all about point guard Kristina Matuskova's return. After being in the starting five and leading the team in assists (2.6 per game) last year, the Slovakian fate will be, mostly, in her hands.
