Camp Standouts Enjoy Time In Valencia

11.04.2010

For three people intimately involved in European basketball, this weekend proved that hard work does pay off.

At the end of the first quarter of the EuroLeague Women Final between Spartak Moscow and Ros Casares three standouts from last summer's International Camp for Under 15 Girls-one a player, one a coach and one a referee-were honored by FIBA Europe for their performances.

The Most Improved Player of the Camp Caroline Gilling of Denmark, the Coach of the Camp Sally Harris of England and the Referee of the Camp Susana Gomes of Spain all traveled to Valencia for a weekend of sun and basketball as guests of FIBA Europe.

"This is my first EuroLeague Women Final Four so it's been great," said Gomes, a referee from nearby Murcia.

"The hospitality of FIBA Europe and Ros Casares is amazing and I've enjoyed the experience a lot"

The International Camp for Under-15 Girls, which takes place in Postojna, Slovenia brings players, coaches and referees together from across Europe.

Organized with the help of the Slovenian Basketball Federation, the camp includes basketball and fitness training, skill training and various competitions and social events.
