Viktor Sanikidze - EuroBasket 2013 Profile
Team 2012-13: Montepaschi Siena (Italy-Lega)
Career: Globe Tech (USA-NCAAJ, 2001-02); Academy Tblisi (Georgia-Highest League, 2002-03); JDA Dijon (France-Pro A, 2003-06); Estudiantes Madrid (Spain-ACB, 2006-07); Dinamo Tbilisi (Georgia-Superleague, 2008); Tartu Rock (Estonia-EMKL, 2008-09); Virtus Bologna (Italy-Lega, 2009-12); Montepaschi Siena (Italy-Lega, 2012-13)

Not many players built their career step-by-step as marvellously as Viktor did. A promising prospect that was drafted at the age of 18 by the San Antonio Spurs, he failed at first to fit into the Spanish league. The extent of his failures in Spain saw him return to Georgia and then to Estonia where he caught the eye of Virtus Bologna. In his debut season there he recorded 6.9 points and 5.6 rebounds-a-game. In the third season his points accumulation had improved to 11.7 points and he had become the the best rebounder in the Italian league with 11 a-night. This was enough for him to last season win a spot on the roster of famed club Montepaschi Siena. Despite winning the championship in style, Viktor experienced another slow start, but you already know how these stories develop for him. One of the best leapers in European basketball, he will now try to replicate his excellent performances from 2011 when he led his team in points (12.0) and rebounds (8.0 - 6th best in EuroBasket 2011).
