It was a proud moment on Sunday noon for Romanian Basketball Federation President Carmen Tocala who, helped by a few distinguished guests, cut the ribbon of the organisation's new Headquarters in Bucharest.

FIBA Europe Secretary General Nar Zanolin was among those guests at hand for this milestone event, one that promises to be the start of great things to come for Romanian Basketball.

It was only appropriate that the landmark event, which aims to put a breath of fresh air in Romanian Basketball, took place this year, which marks 80 years since the founding of the Romanian Basketball Federation.

Against a backdrop of financial instability which is affecting the basketball world, the Romanian Federation decided to invest rather than wait. The project was funded exclusively by the Federation's own means.

"A number of the member Federations of FIBA Europe have decided to move away from rented, outdated offices to have their own modern premises where they house a wide range of activities," commented Zanolin.

"As the world of basketball is expanding this is a nice new concept which can only help Federations who seek to acquire a stronger identity."
