|FIBA Europe Youth Championships Meeting, Freising, December 2011|
Prior to the upcoming 2012 draws FIBA Europe organised a Youth European Championships meeting with representatives from the different National Federations, in Freising, Saturday.
The meeting brought together past and future Youth European Championships organisers with a single aim to kick start an interactive process which will help raise the standard of the events in the future.
The main speaker at the meeting was FIBA Europe's Head of Competitions Department Richard Stokes, who presented participants with an evaluation of key aspects of the operations and competition parts of the events.
He also presented a new concept of how to approach organisational as well as a delegation's responsibilities in the Youth tournaments every summer.
In the ensued discussion the Federation representatives offered their own proposals for improving the events while everybody agreed that certain aspects of the organisation (eg meals, accommodation) require special attention and a more universal standard.
"The goal is to improve the level of competition and organisation in the Youth Championships," commented FIBA Europe Secretary General Nar Zanolin. "And it is important to do so by listening to the people directly involved with the events as we value their feedback."
