Good Angels Kosice inflicted a first EuroLeague Women defeat of the season on Beretta Famila Schio after taking an impressive 67-57 road win in Group A.

A rotten second quarter proved to be the downfall of the Italian side, as a major run by Kosice broke the game open and gave them the cushion they required in the closing minutes.

Schio had enjoyed the better of the opening stages and opened up a 12-4 advantage, but eight successive points for Good Angels quickly levelled matters.

It was still tied up early in the second quarter at 16-16 when the visitors exploded, mainly via Lucia Kupcikova and Yelena Leuchanka, who helped build what proved to be a game-changing 14-0 run.

Schio were still behind 51-40 early in the final quarter, but managed to initiate a late wobble from Kosice by launching a potential rescue mission.

They held their opponents to just four further points in seven minute to get back to within five points with over two minutes to play, but Kosice made the game safe from the free-throw line.

Laura Macchi led Schio with 20 points and the winning team were led by forwards Plenette Pierson and Farhiya Abdi who combined for 35 points.

Importantly, Tijana Krivacevic and Leuchanka did some good work on the glass against Schio who went into the game as one of the best rebounding teams in the competition.

The result means Schio have still never won a game against a Slovak club, whilst Good Angels Kosice secured their fifth straight success against Italian opposition.
