Joakim Noah will not play for France at the FIBA World Championship, coach Vincent Collet has confirmed.
Collet has moved to end uncertainty over the status of Noah, who has been locked in contract talks with the Chicago Bulls.
Collet is eager to avoid a repeat of last year, when the team spent all summer waiting for Noah to join up with them for the EuroBasket, only to be left without his services when he was finally declared unavailable.
"I was pessimistic and now I can tell you it's a done deal," Collet said. "We must turn the page. That is what I have done."
France have been drawn in Group D where they will face defending world champions Spain, FIBA Oceania winners New Zealand, FIBA Americas Championship semi-finalists Canada and wild-card teams Lithuania and Lebanon.
