Club Competitions Participants Announced

Big names of European club basketball are included in the line-up for the 2007-2008 EuroCup, EuroLeague Women and EuroCup Women season which were announced by FIBA Europe, Thursday.

Cholet Basket, PAOK Thessaloniki, AEK Athens, Lokomotiv Rostov, Spartak St. Petersburg, Ural Great Perm, Banvit BC, Zlatorog Lasko and Khimik Yuzhny are among 39 clubs from 23 countries which will participate in the EuroCup Men, FIBA Europe’s flagship club competition.

The EuroCup will hold two elimination rounds before the group stage, when the remaining 16 teams will form four groups of four clubs.

Holders Spartak Moscow Region, city rivals CSKA and Dynamo, Ros Casares, Bourges, Gambrinus SIKA Brno, are some of the topnotch names in EuroLeague Women.

Fifty three clubs have registered for EuroCup Women. The system of competition for both women’s competitions remains the same.

A total of 116 clubs have registered for all three competitions.

The general assembly of the EuroCup Men and EuroLeague Women will take place at Kempinski Hotel Airport Munich, Germany, on August 4.

The draws for all club competitions will be held at the same venue a day later, August 5.
