Lithuania's Gintare Petronyte was all smiles at the Arena Riga on Friday night after being recognized as the FIBA Europe Young Women's Player of the Year.

The 1.95m center was presented with the award by FIBA Europe Secretary General Nar Zanolin before Lithuania's Qualifying Round game against France.

A solid contributor with TEO Vilnius, Petronyte averaged 5.9 points and 5.1 rebounds in the EuroLeague Women.

Petronyte then averaged 20.8 points, 11.5 rebounds and 1.3 blocked shots per game at the 2008 U20 European Championship for Women Italy.

Serbia's Sonja Petrovic, who won the award in 2008, and Spain's Alba Torrens finished behind the 20-year-old Petronyte in the voting.
