|2011 has not been a lucky year for Amaya Valdemoro, who was forced to watch EuroBasket Women from the bench and has now suffered a new injury|
Rivas Ecopolis and Spanish National Team star Amaya Valdemoro has been ruled out of action after sustaining two wrist fractures.
The veteran fell during the first quarter of the opening EuroLeague Women game of the season at home to Gospic Croatia.
After being rushed to hospital, it was confirmed she had broken each of her wrists, with the club later confirming she will be out of action for around two months.
Her right hand suffered a clean break and is in plaster for four weeks while her left hand also suffered a clean break but due to the additional complication of some displacement, it will require plaster to remain in situ for at least six weeks.
Because her two wrists are immobilized, she will have to carry a control plaque so doctors are able to further evaluate the injury during coming days.
It's been a terrible 2011 for the player after her EuroBasket Women campaign was also affected by injury and having barely returned to full fitness, this latest setback is a real blow.
Still going through a lot of pain and speaking from hospital, Valdemoro has vowed to return to the court as soon as possible.
"I am strongly looking forward to leaving all this behind. What I want is to forget it all as soon as possible and to be able to play again.
"I really want to recover and play, so I can only wish for these two months to be over and feel good again on a basketball court".
