|Deron Williams is headed back to New Jersey but took the opportunity to say good-bye to the Besiktas Milangaz fans|
The ride was short, but sweet.
Have no doubt that Deron Williams knows how Besiktas fans feel about him after his three months with the club following Tuesday night's game against ZZ Leiden.
Before tip-off, Williams stood alongside Semih Erden and led the crowd in cheers.
He also was honored by the club by having his No. 8 jersey raised to the rafters in a pre-game ceremony that the USA star will never, ever forget.
Williams, who became a club legend at Besiktas almost overnight with his 50-point game against BG Göttingen eight days ago, went on Twitter to let everyone know about Tuesday night's farewell.
He tweeted: "Just had a great time with the fans for the last time at Besiktas Milingaz! Arena taking the team out for dinner! I'm going to miss them..."
Williams then took the team to the Musr-et steakhouse after their EuroChallenge victory over Leiden, a success that improved the club to 4-0 in Group B and ensured their presence in the Last 16.
The 27-year-old will now return to the United States with his family and resume his NBA career with the New Jersey Nets following the end of the lockout.
