Trailing by as much as 14 points early in the third quarter, France came back to defeat Bulgaria, 78-69, at the Samsung U18 European Championship on Friday.

After stunning Turkey on Thursday, Bulgaria looked to be on track to produce their second upset within 24 hours, comfortably leading France for two-and-a-half quarters.

But when Alexandre Chassang spurred an 11-6 run midway through the third quarter, his teammates then added the finishing touches with Benjamin Sene and Antony Labanca both sinking threes to tie the game up with a period to play.

With momentum in their favour, the more experienced French took control in the final quarter, as Labanca landed two killer blows from beyond the arc to give Les Blues a comfortable buffer.

Labanca ended the game with 21 points, all of which came from outside the perimeter.

Chassang also ended with 21. Sene chipped in with 16.

Bulgaria's Aleksandar Vezenkov lead all scoring with 26 points.

In their final Group C games on Saturday, France again have the early game when they play Turkey whilst Bulgaria do battle later in the evening with hosts Latvia.
