|Kristaps Porzingis had another productive evening, finishing with 10 points and 13 rebounds|
Latvia have won their first Group G match at the U18 European Championship against Croatia 72-65.
The host nation opened a handy advantage after a tightly contested first half to build a 17-point third-quarter lead that they rode to the finish line.
Kristaps Porzingis (10 points, 13 rebounds) was the standout big man from Latvia's massive frontcourt in what was an inefficient night for the team's scorers. Guards Kristaps Gluditis and Davis Geks paced the Latvian offence, but combined to shoot a miserable 8-for-26 from the field.
Croatia capitalised on a number of opportunities to score 21 points off Latvia's 16 turnovers, but were hurt by a three-minute scoring drought in the third quarter in which the hosts took off on a 10-0 run.
Center Karlo Zganec did well to match Latvia's height, scoring 14 points and grabbing 12 rebounds for Croatia.
