David Iriarte and Spain controlled the tempo throughout against France to set up a date with Turkey in the semi-finals.

Turning Point: Spain's brief use of zone defence early in the fourth quarter forced France into a number of turnovers and poor shots without shooters or a go-to scorer to create offensive opportunities.
Game Hero: Marc Garcia scored an important 18 points for Spain, but also helped seal the victory with a couple of back breaking threes and a strong drives to the basket.
Stats Don't Lie: Garcia, Alberto Martin and Agusti Sans combined to hit eight three-point baskets, an area France simply could not compete in.

Spain have assured an all Group F affair in the U18 Europen Championship semi-finals, defeating France 68-59 to advance to the last four and set  up a re-match with Second Round opponents Turkey.

Wearing black bands across the shoulders of their jerseys in respect of those that lost their lives in the country's most horrific train crash in decades, Spain got off a perfect start, running out to a 9-0 lead on the back of threes from Alberto Martin and Agusti Sans. The same could not be said for the French, as they struggled, making just two of their first ten attempts.

Axel Bouteille and Guerschon Yabusele ensured France would not face a double-digit quarter time deficit, but the duo could only bring their team within five by quarter time.

Spain's lead hit double-figures for the first time with 2:33 remaining in the second quarter courtesy of 14 points from 11 French turnovers, but a Bouteille triple right before halftime was France's first outside make from 13 attempts, reducing the margin to eight with 20 minutes to play.

France twice made runs at the beginning of the third quarter, the first of which was punctuated by three Yabusele baskets, including two powerful dunks, giving France their first lead of the game.

Cyrille Eliezer-Vanerot then managed two triples at and when Charly Pontens hit a quarter-ending floater, France had the lead going into the final frame.

However, Marc Garcia stepped in to end France's comeback hopes by scoring 12 final quarter points as Spain outscored their opponents 13-7 over the last seven minutes.

Garcia finished with a game-high 18 points while Martin and Sans both chipped in 12 points each.

France were led by 14 points and seven rebounds each from Bouteille and Yabusele.
