Five plus years of hard work and dedication to growing the game of basketball in Europe culminated on Wednesday in the announcement that FIBA Europe has purchased a new headquarters in Munich.

FIBA Europe President George Vassilakopoulos and Secretary General Nar Zanolin were on hand to sign the official documents on Tuesday, signalling a new era for the organization.

"This is a great day not only for FIBA Europe but for European basketball." commented Vassilakopoulos.

"From this day forward European basketball has its home in Munich and that's great."

The three-story building, located in Munich's exclusive Bogenhausen district, will house the offices of FIBA Europe.

"It's very gratifying for me personally and I know for the rest of the staff that have worked so hard over the years to make FIBA Europe what it is," said Secretary General Nar Zanolin.

"You have to remember that FIBA Europe is not an organization that has been around for a very long time.  When I arrived we didn't have a lot to call our own and so this day has great meaning for all of us."

FIBA Europe will continue to work from their offices on Widenmayerstrasse while minor renovations on their new home are complete.
