|Augustas Peciukevicius delivered a near-perfect performance, scoring 25 points in 28 minutes|
Augustas Peciukevicius poured in 25 points to lead Tartu Rock to a 99-65 rout of Sodertalje in Group C of the EuroChallenge.
Tartu never trailed as they gradually eased away in the first half before turning up the heat after the break and turning it into a demolition derby.
Janar Talts and Vincent Simpson each added 15 as five Tartu players made it to double figures.
Tartu got their noses in front early on but Sodertalje were still in touch until the midpoint of the second quarter, when Tartu rattled off nine unanswered points to take a 44-31 lead on Talts' lay-up.
The advantage was 51-39 at the break, but if Sodertalje had any designs on a second-half fightback, they were quickly dismissed as Tartu scored the first 10 points of the third quarter, leading 61-39 on another Talts lay-up.
It only got worse for the visitors, with the advantage growing to 36 when Peciukevicius made it 97-62 with a little over two minutes to go.
They showed no mercy and kept pushing to the end, Peciukevicius even putting up a late three-point attempt which might have brought up triple figures, but it was off-target.
Toni Bizaca led Sodertalje with 23 points while Assane Sene added 10.
Södertälje Kings Head Coach Vedran Bosnic:
"That was one of our worst games in the season. Tartu was two levels in front of us and they played better. We didn't do anything we had talked about and without that it is very difficult against a good team like Tartu. Another thing was that their player Augustas Peciukevicius had not played for them in this league and they are a totally different team with him - he gave them rhythm and space and he also scored some points. They beat us in rebounds and we were not focused to fight for 40 minutes. But I still believe that we will still compete for second place and qualify for the second round. We must focus on the next game and I think the last game will decide."
Södertälje Kings Player John Roberson:
"The team needed a lot more from me today and I wasn't there for my teammates. We didn't play together as a team and we didn't play defence at all - we just weren't there today. I give a lot of credit to Tartu, they made a lot of shots and fought for rebounds."
Tartu Rock Head Coach Gert Kullamäe:
"Today our things worked. A lot of small things came together for us and the things we agreed before the game worked today. The guys were well prepared and in the locker room I saw the look on their faces that they wanted to prove that we can win. Our shots fell, we played at home and it gave us a lot of confidence. The fact that I could use Augustas Peciukevicius again after his injury made our rotation much better and players could play in their own position."
Tartu Rock Player Timo Eichfuss:
"The team played well and it is a good feeling to win like that, especially on your birthday. We knew that they are a shooting team and I think that made the tempo of the game quicker and that suited us."
