Tanisha Wright was the main force behind Kayseri Kaski spor's victory, picking up 10 rebounds to go with 17 points
Kayseri Kaski spor continued their EuroLeague Women renaissance after claiming a third straight Group A win with an impressive 68-53 home success against Beretta Famila Schio.
Crucially, the Turkish club showed their strength in the paint by matching their rivals under the basket to nullify the newly bulked-up Schio frontcourt, which included recent acquisition Erlana Larkins.
Whilst the Italians raced out of the blocks and scored nine of the first eleven points of the contest, once Kayseri arose from their early slumber it became a war of attrition with defences firmly on top.
With Schio failing miserably from three-point range, eventually going an eye-watering 1-of-13, Kayseri left their opponents trailing in their wake with rock-solid defence and an incessant determination to pound the ball inside.
The home side went to the foul line over 30 times and it made a difference, although it was their ability to shut out Schio defensively which mattered most.
When Courtney Vandersloot brought Schio level a minute before the end of the third frame, head-coach Miguel Mendez could hardly have believed his team would only score 16 more points in the game.
It was a different story for Kayseri, who produced a fantastic 27-14 final quarter to cement their latest success and give their Group A hopes a real shot in the arm.
Tanisha Wright starred in victory with 17 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, whilst Lara Sanders also claimed a double-double.
French center Elodie Godin had 10 points and the same number of boards for Schio.
