Natalia Vieru had a double-double in Sparta&K's home play-off opener
Underdogs UE Sopron were left trailing in a devastating Sparta&K M.R. Vidnoje offensive whirlwind after being routed 81-43 on the road in a one-sided EuroLeague Women play-off opener.
The home team cut loose from the very first second and were dominant for the entire game, with their scintillating display firmly underlining their intent to clinch yet another place at the Final Eight.
The carnage was created primarily by Russian national team center, Natalia Vieru who finished with a sparkling 18 points and 10 rebounds, whilst the in-form Sonja Petrovic contributed a majestic 27 points, eight boards and four assists.
Sparta&K scored the first six points of the evening and it was a sign of things to follow.
It was Vieru who excelled in the first quarter, with a flurry of baskets taking Sparta&K even further into the ascendency as they completed a 24-11 opening quarter.
And, there was a sense of déjà vu by half-time, after Sparta&K play-caller Alexander Vasin had watched on with contentment as his players once again outscored Sopron 24-11.
Having briefly found sanctuary from the storm in the locker rooms at the break, it was to get much worse for the visitors when they re-emerged.
Sparta&K continued the rampage and even took things up a notch, with Petrovic proving unstoppable as she propelled her team to an eye-popping 72-27 advantage heading into the final ten minutes.
Sopron managed to finally stem the bleeding and even won the last quarter, but it didn't mask what was a brutal dismantling by their hosts.
Iva Ciglar finished with 15 points for the losing team.
