|Milica Dabovic paced Novi Zagreb with 27 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists|
Milica Dabovic drove WBC Novi Zagreb over the line as they grabbed their first EuroLeague Women Group C success of the season with a 70-67 home victory over Kibirkstis-Vici Vilnius on Wednesday.
The scores were level at 57 entering the final period before the visitors pulled away at 65-59 with six minutes to play.
But Serbian international Dabovic then took over scoring seven of her game-high 27 points as the hosts closed on an 11-2 run to hand Vilnuis a first defeat of the season.
Dabovic led from the front early on as she scored nine first-quarter points to help the hosts to a 25-14 advantage after 10 minutes.
That lead was cut to a solitary point at 38-37 by half-time however as Sofija Aleksandravicius began to grow into the game, on her way to 13 points.
The third period swung back-and-forth before Dabovic drilled a three-pointer to tie the game at 57.
It looked like that dagger may have given Zagreb the momentum but it was their visitors who came out firing, hitting the first six point to seize control.
Zagreb still had one last surge in them though. Dabovic and Iva Ciglar upped the tempo giving Luca Ivankovic the opportunity to break another tie at 65, which she did, and they never looked back.
Vilnius Head Coach Jurgita Streimikyte-Virbickiene
"We knew that it would be a very tough game because Novi Zagreb are a very good team. We had a lot of ups and downs and a lot of turnovers. We couldn't stop (Milica) Dabovic. We had a good three-point percentage. In the end we made a wrong decision on offence."
Vilnius Player Hollie Mershon
"We had too many turnovers and in the end we had some problems on offence."
Novi Zagreb Head Coach Vladimir Ivankovic
"We started very strong, but we found ourselves in a difficult position because of an extremely good shooting night from Vilnius. But at the end we found a way to defend their transition and we won. I congratulate all of my players; they left their heart on the court tonight."
Novi Zagreb Player Milica Dabovic
"It was a tough game, and I'm very happy with this win. Last week I was the MVP of the week and that gave me a lot of confidence. This is a big step for our team in this competition."
