|Ewelina Kobryn made good use of her time on the court, top-scoring for UMMC Ekaterinburg|
Ewelina Kobryn produced a perfect shooting night as the defending champions marched relentlessly onwards in EuroLeague Women Group A by completing an 82-45 demolition of visiting Kayseri Kaski spor.
Kobryn grabbed her highest score in a UMMC vest with 21 points and never missed a shot as the Russian powerhouse collected their fourth win of the campaign and their seventh consecutive success against Turkish opposition.
Diana Taurasi also illuminated the contest with a dazzling 13 assists as the home club grew stronger as the game unfolded.
Kayseri managed to just about keep the shackles on their illustrious opponents during the first 12 minutes, with Italian national team forward Sabrina Cinili scoring to keep her side within touching distance at 18-13.
But, it was all downhill after this as UMMC opened up a double-digit lead and then piled on the agony in a distinctly one-sided second-half.
The home defence choked the life out of Kayseri's offence and the visitors were held to just nine points in both the third and fourth quarter, as UMMC romped to victory to remain unbeaten.
Cinili was the pick of the Kayseri players with an efficient 10 points as her team slumped to a third loss four games.
There was a notable landmark for UMMC fans to enjoy as the legendary Maria Stepanova got the basket she needed to become only the fourth player in the history of the competition to exceed 2,500 points.
Kayseri forward Mirna Mazic
"It was a very hard game for us. UMMC has the best roster in the world. We played bad in the third quarter. We thought it would be easier for us to play hard defense. It was hard to score open shots."
Kayseri head coach Ayhan Avci
"If you want to beat UMMC, you have to come to Ekaterinburg at the right time. Today was a bad day for us. Although we play in a really tough group, we would like to get to the Final Eight. This game against UMMC isn't significant for us. The game at home will be a lot different. All important games are still to come."
UMMC point guard Silvia Dominguez
"I think we played well. We needed to find our game again after the games against Bourges and Kosice. We played good defense tonight."
UMMC head coach Olaf Lange
"I agree with Silvia. I'm happy that finally we got our game back. We played both great defense and offence. We only let them score 45 points and I think it's a good result in games like this. We didn't let Tanisha Wright score a single point. The team chemistry was good but I have to admit we are a little off from where I expected us to be but we made a big step forward."
