| Alba Torrens is moving to the city where she has tasted her most EuroLeague Women success|
Having always found her best form at the DIVS Arena, the versatile wing star will now be able to play and practice there every week for the deposed champions after they decided to swoop for Torrens to spearhead a rejuvenated line-up.
It was the 24-year-old who exploded at the Final Eight last month in Ekaterinburg, scoring 29 points in the semi-final against her new club.
She was a driving force in taking Galatasaray odeabank to the best season in their history, as they became the first Turkish club to be crowned number one in Europe - an achievement sandwiched between a Turkish Cup and Turkish Championship success.
UMMC General Manager Maxim Ryabkov was especially pleased with the new signing.
"Alba was a free agent and had a right to choose any club she was interested in. We fought for her decision to continue her career in Ekaterinburg.
"Of course it's hard to sign a player of such a high level; especially the one who had a triumphant season and won all possible titles both at the club and national team level."
He continued, "Alba is a unique player; she is 1.92m tall and she is capable to play on all five positions. She can be offensively effective both in penetration beating the opponent one-on-one and going inside for a lay-up as well as catching and shooting.
"She is an independent player. There are people who you need to serve to, deliver them the ball and create a play in order for them to reveal their talent. But Alba is capable to complete this rough work for herself and for her team in general.
"We hope she will become a core player of UMMC for a long time."
Russian national team forward Anna Petrakova, also won't have her contract renewed having spent two years with the Russian Premier League champions.
