|Dewanna Bonner made a great debut for Nadezhda, scoring 22 points|
Nadezhda took the first victory of the new EuroLeague Women campaign after shrugging off a slow start to record an exciting 70-65 home success against Good Angels Kosice in Group B.
In a great advertisement for the women's game, both teams produced an absorbing and roller-coaster contest worthy of the season opener.
The home fans in Orenburg were initially left stunned as the visitors started with a blistering 22-10 first quarter, but by half-time, they had watched their precious lead evaporate and trailed 32-31.
Much of that was due to a combination of Nadezhda making essential defensive adjustments and also the impact of debutante Dewanna Bonner who eventually finished with 22 points.
When the teams returned to the floor, Kosice managed to wrestle the initiative back yet again, to regain the lead during an impressive third quarter.
But neither team could make a decisive break and the game still hung in the balance with just a minute remaining when the excellent Allie Quigley dropped a three-ball for Kosice to make it a one shot game at 66-63.
However, Nadezhda managed to wrap up a hard fought win from the free-throw line in the closing seconds.
Liudmila Sapova pulled down 10 rebounds for the home side whilst Tijana Krivacevic had an all-action 11 points, seven rebounds and three assists for the losing team.
