FIBA Europe And Lithuania United For EuroBasket 2011

FIBA Europe President George Vassilakopoulos, Secretary General Nar Zanolin and Sports Director Kosta Iliev met today with Lithuanian Basketball Federation officials at FIBA Europe’s offices in Munich, Germany to primarily discuss organisational aspects of EuroBasket 2011.

The Lithuanian Basketball Federation was represented by President Vladas Garastas, Vice President Ramunas Saluga and Steering Committee Member Mindaugas Spokas.

Both parties came away encouraged by the positive cooperation that currently exists and the effect this will have on EuroBasket 2011.

“I am delighted to report that FIBA Europe and the Lithuanian Basketball Federation in the person of President Vladas Garastas are completely united,” said Vassilakopoulos.

“We have always been able to maintain a strong collaboration with the Lithuanian Basketball Federation and I am 100 percent confident that this will continue as we move ahead and focus on EuroBasket 2011.”

“The Lithuanian Basketball Federation, working together with FIBA Europe, is moving ahead with our EuroBasket 2011 organisational plans,” said Garastas.

“As is well known, basketball is the number one sport in Lithuania and we are all extremely excited about hosting EuroBasket 2011.”
