ZVVZ USK Prague have strengthened their roster for next season with the addition of the versatile Layshia Clarendon and the retention of Montenegrin star forward Jelena Dubljevic.

Plagued by a back problem last season, the decision to keep the services of Dubljevic was a no-brainer after she proved she is back firing on all cylinders with some scintillating displays at EuroBasket Women 2013 last month.

She produced some of the best basketball of her career and was the standout performer during the first phase of the competition with a string of top performances in Vannes.

Clarendon meanwhile was the ninth overall pick in the WNBA draft earlier this year and has since embarked on her inaugural WNBA season for reigning champions Indiana Fever.

So far, the American is averaging 5.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game, but rather than prolific production, it is the flexibility which she offers that appeals most to the Czech club.

"I had the opportunity to talk to her in person and got a very good impression from our conversation," confirmed head coach Natalia Hejkova.

"And, when I saw her play, I felt that she uses her position to create for her team-mates, which is one of her most important attributes.

"She's a young player with a great perspective and has one very important key service - she can play both the 2 and 3 positions and also point guard."

The play-caller added, "I believe that thanks to her arrival, we will also have more on the perimeter, which is very positive."

Whilst the 22-year-old hasn't produced huge numbers yet in the WNBA, her rookie pro-season overseas could be fruitful, since she showed during her time at the University of California that she can put points on the board.

Clarendon averaged 16.4 points per game during her senior year and helped take the Golden Bears to the NCAA Final Four for the very first time.
