GAME REPORT  | Nnemkadi Ogwumike led the way for Polkowice with 20 points and eight rebounds

CCC Polkowice continued their blistering recent form with a fifth win in six games as they took a significant step towards the Final Eight via a thrilling 74-71 EuroLeague Women play-off success at Nadezhda. The disappointed home side had an opportunity to force overtime, but Liudmila Sapova was unable to make the three-point shot as Magdalena Skorek gleefully took the all-important defensive rebound to make the game safe for the visitors. After an entertaining and high tempo first quarter which Polkowice edged 24-22, the Polish side took control in the second period via some sensational shooting from Belinda Snell. The Australian small forward could barely miss during a real purple patch and it was her three-pointer which gave the visitors a commanding 45-32 advantage. However, just when the game looked to be sliding rapidly away from Nadezhda, they came roaring back from 54-41 behind in the third quarter, with a wonderful 15-2 burst to level matters with a free throw from Dewanna Bonner. It threw the result firmly back into the balance and when CCC Polkowice got their noses back in front in crunch time, five points from Natalia Zhedik kept Nadezhda in contention and just one point behind at 70-69. But successive scores for Polkowice by Skorek and Nnemkadi Ogwumike during the last ninety seconds, proved just enough to take a precious victory - although the win was soured slightly by a worrying injury to Agnieszka Majewska. Ogwumike had 20 points, eight rebounds and four steals for the winning team, whilst Laia Palau was also hugely instrumental in the backcourt, recording an all-action line of 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Bonner had a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds for Nadezhda.
